ZenDial Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
ZenDial ("ZenDial", "the App", "we", "us") is an Android phone-dialer replacement application developed by GeeksAxis ("GeeksAxis", "our", "we"). This Privacy Policy explains what information ZenDial accesses on your device, how that information is used, what we share with third-party service providers, and the choices you have. By installing or using ZenDial, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information ZenDial Accesses on Your Device
ZenDial is designed to run as your device's default phone app. To do that job, Android requires it to read and write certain phone-related data. This data stays on your device — GeeksAxis does not operate a server that stores your call history, contacts, or phone number.
2.1 Call log
ZenDial reads your device's call log (numbers, contact names, timestamps, and call type) to display your Recents and Catch Up lists, and to power call-screening rules. When you delete a call log entry or use "Clear" in Catch Up, ZenDial deletes that entry from Android's system call log directly — this is permanent and cannot be undone by us.
2.2 Contacts
ZenDial reads your device contacts (name, phone numbers, and photo) to show caller names and photos on calls, in your call history, and in search. ZenDial can also create a new contact on your device when you choose "Add to Contact" — this uses Android's own contact-creation screen; ZenDial does not create contacts without your explicit action.
2.3 Phone and call state
ZenDial reads phone state (e.g. whether a call is ringing, active, or ended) and the number involved, which is required to place calls, answer calls, show the in-call screen, and apply your call-screening rules to incoming calls before they ring through.
2.4 Your call-screening rules
Modes, Number Rules, and exceptions you configure inside ZenDial (e.g. "always block this number," "ghost unknown callers") are stored in a local database on your device only. They are never transmitted off your device.
3. Information Handled by Third-Party Services
ZenDial uses a small number of third-party services to provide purchases and advertising. These providers process limited data on our behalf, governed by their own privacy policies:
3.1 RevenueCat & Google Play Billing
ZenDial's one-time "Premium" purchase (which removes ads) is processed through Google Play Billing and managed via RevenueCat, a subscription/purchase-management platform. RevenueCat receives a device-generated anonymous purchaser ID and your purchase/entitlement status to confirm and restore your purchase. GeeksAxis does not receive or store your payment details — those are handled entirely by Google Play. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
3.2 Google AdMob
Free-tier users are shown banner and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads, per Google's advertising policy. Ads are never shown on the in-call screen or anywhere in the dialing/answering flow. Premium users do not see ads.
4. Why ZenDial Requests Sensitive Permissions
Google Play restricts apps from requesting call-log and contacts permissions unless they are essential to the app's core function. ZenDial requests them because it is your phone app — this is the explicit, permitted use case for a default dialer/call-management app:
- Read/Write Call Log — to show, merge, and let you delete entries in Recents and Catch Up.
- Read Contacts — to resolve caller names and photos, and to search contacts alongside your call history.
- Call Phone / Answer Calls — to place, answer, and manage calls as your default dialer.
- Read Phone State — to detect ringing/active calls and route them to the correct screen.
- Post Notifications / Full-Screen Intent — to show incoming-call alerts and the in-call banner.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Call log entries, contacts, and rules live in Android's system call log and ZenDial's local app database — not on any GeeksAxis server. You can delete individual call log entries or clear your Catch Up list at any time inside the app; these deletions are immediate and permanent. Uninstalling ZenDial removes its local database entirely. Revoking a permission (Settings > Apps > ZenDial > Permissions) stops ZenDial from accessing that data going forward, though some dialer functionality will stop working without it.
6. Children's Privacy
ZenDial is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will address it.
7. International Data
GeeksAxis is based in Nigeria. RevenueCat and Google (AdMob, Play Billing) may process data on servers located outside Nigeria, subject to their own safeguards and privacy policies linked above.
8. Security
ZenDial relies on Android's own app-sandboxing and permission model to protect on-device data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we do not operate a separate server-side store of your call or contact data that could itself be breached.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of ZenDial after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
